Her Homes (“Her Homes”, “we”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have over it. We process personal data in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and the Nigeria Data Protection Act.

1. Information we collect

  • Account details: full name, email address, phone number, date of birth, password, and account role (applicant, developer, community, or lender).
  • Identity & verification data: Bank Verification Number (BVN), National Identification Number (NIN), government-issued ID documents, and proof of address.
  • Financial information: income, employment details, expenses, existing debts, savings, bank statements, and credit assessment results.
  • Property & application data: mortgage and financing applications, property requests, savings goals, and community membership.
  • Technical data: IP address, device and browser information, and login activity, used for security and fraud prevention.

2. BVN and NIN — special disclosure

To assess mortgage and financing eligibility, we collect your BVN and NIN. We want to be clear about how this sensitive data is handled:

  • Your BVN is used solely to run a credit assessment through our licensed verification partner, CreditChek, and is never used to access or move funds in your bank accounts.
  • Your NIN and uploaded ID documents are used only to confirm your identity (Know Your Customer / KYC).
  • BVN and NIN are never displayed back to you in full through the platform and are never shared publicly or with other users.
  • Raw credit reports are accessible only to authorised Her Homes administrators reviewing your application.
  • We collect and process your BVN and NIN only after you give explicit, informed consent during the application flow. You may decline, but some financing services will then be unavailable.

3. How we use your data

We use your data to create and manage your account, verify your identity, assess financing eligibility, match you with properties and lenders, process payments, send service notifications, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data.

4. Sharing your data

We share data only as needed to deliver our services: with CreditChek (credit verification), Paystack (payment processing), Cloudinary (document storage), and lenders or developers strictly relevant to an application you have submitted. All partners are required to protect your data and use it only for the agreed purpose.

5. Data storage and security

Passwords are stored using strong one-way hashing. Sensitive records are held in access-controlled databases, and all data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide our services or to meet legal and regulatory requirements.

6. Your rights under the NDPR

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
